this proposal for a new logo for the frankfurter kunstverein is developed from forms that are not characteristic of an individual artistic script. the basis of the design is photographic footage of moveable steel balls resting on the membrane of a loudspeaker. the ground noise of an amplifier serves as the starting signal for the membrane to oscillate the steel balls. by choosing a long exposure several steel ball constellations in the photographs randomly melt into each other. the blurred movement of the polaroids causes optical deformations of individual steel balls to occur and random patterns to form. sections of these randomly emerging patterns are selected, copied and enlarged before clear line-drawings are prepared. these drawingsform the basic identity of the new logo.
